Late Night Drive

Amber was driving home after one of her college parties one late and rainy night, she was downtown and the town  It was like a ghost, everyone was sound asleep in their beds but she wasn’t she was jamming out and singing a long to her favorite artist. The parties she goes to often has alcohol but  she knew she would have to drive home so because of that she barley drank, at least not enough to get plastered she has a slight buzz but she can focus on the road still. As she’s jamming out trying to stay awake, she notices a person standing on the side of the road waiting to cross. Amber thought she had the right of way so she kept going . She did not realize until it was too late the person on the side of the street was no longer on the side but now in the middle of the street. She had hit him going 40 miles an hour, the person smacked to windshield and flew over her car. This is when Amber came to a complete stop, she looked back in her rearview mirror which is when she realized that the person she had hit was a boy from her class, she had noticed hi, at the party but didn’t say anything to him because he was one of the weird ones. She began hyperventilating unable to catch her breath, she grab her phone to call 911 but something in the back of her mind thought that was a bad idea. She remembered she had been drinking so because she was scarred of her consequences she slowly started pulling away from the accident she had caused. She’s unaware if he just hurt and unconscious or dead. She decides not to dwell on that idea and just go home.

That next morning Amber wakes up with so much guilt because of her actions, she wants to tell the cops because what if he was still there? Or maybe now because she left him he’s dead. All those type of thoughts begin to flood her mind when its interrupted by a knock on her front door. She makes her way down to the entryway and opens the doors with a great smile spread across her face.

“Good morning Amber, is this your vehicle?” the gentleman in a policeman uniform asked her. Amber nods suddenly the smile spread across her face has disappeared and she has become worried. “We’re going to take you down to the station and ask you a few questions about last night.”
